Part 3 of 5: ULTIMATE X-MEN #37

Somewhat overshadowed in all the confusion, Ultimate X-Men #37 rounds up the week's X-books.  And it's... Well, it's more of the same really.

You know last issue, when Wolverine, Daredevil and Spider-Man teamed up to fight a bunch of soldiers led by a mysterious woman?  Well, they do the same this issue.  Except Wolverine gets to throw in a speech about why he doesn't feel good enough to return to the X-Men, and the X-Men turn up at the end.  Otherwise, it's basically the same.

This is trade paperback pacing.  In terms of page count, there's nothing wrong with what Bendis is doing here.  It'll work well enough in the trade.  In serial form, though, this could quite happily have been conflated with the previous issue and it would have worked just as well.

As with previous issues, the dialogue is typically strong, and the art is good solid action story work.  There's nothing wrong with any of the individual scenes.  But it's essentially the same thing we read last month.  The wider pacing problems drag it down.
