STORY: "Big Trouble in Little Italy!"
(22
pages) Dazzler saves the X-Babies and takes them under
her protection.
What you need to know:
Dazzler turns up to call off Gog and Magog, both of whom
consider themselves to be working for her and Longshot.
Oddly, Gog and Magog protest that they're only obeying orders;
it's not clear who ordered them to go and kill the X-Babies,
and the point is never explored.
The last time we saw her, Dazzler was
pregnant. Phoenix verifies that she's no longer pregnant
(which is blindingly obvious just from looking at her), and
from this we're supposed to take it that she must have
miscarried. Strangely, nobody seems to consider the
possibility that she gave birth - it must have been months and
months since issue #11, even in Marvel time. In any
event, the miscarriage story seems to have stuck.
There's a closing scene with Professor X
and Boomer talking about Sabretooth, acting as a trailer for
Uncanny X-Men #328.
Comments:
The less said the better. The X-Babies are
peculiarly charmless in this story, and it's simply not very
entertaining. With virtually no subplot material,
there's little else to occupy the attention. And god
only knows who thought it would be a good idea to nail a
miscarriage scene onto the end of an X-Babies comedy story.
