STORY: "Share" (40 pages)
Professor X helps a mutant girl blinded in a school shooting.
What you need to know:
Not much. Standard annual story without any wider
impact.
Comments:
As usual with the annuals, this is a story you can quite
happily skip. It's a Professor X story where he takes an
interest in a mutant teenager who's been blinded in a school
shooting - always a touchy subject in the USA. As you'd
imagine, she's very angry about it, and he talks her round.
In fact, it's quite good, if a
bit melodramatic. Fiona Avery's script puts enough flesh
onto the characters to make the story work, when it could
easily have been an exercise in stereotypes. Essad Ribic
and Jimmy Palmiotti provide nicely understated art.
