introduction

Many years ago, Marvel published an index to Uncanny X-Men compiled by a man called George Olshevsky. It was great. It was filled with tons of useless information, absurd levels of continuity trivia, and ridiculously detailed synopses. Okay, so it petered out at the end of the Dark Phoenix Saga, but it was great.

This bit of the site isn't like it at all.

In 1994, Marvel published another index, by a guy called Murray Ward. It wasn't quite so good (there was much less space for each entry), but if you're looking for a six issue summary of twenty-eight years worth of plot, you won't do better. So it was great too, in a way.

This bit of the site isn't like it, either.

What this is, really, is an issue guide, with commentaries on all the important plot points, and my own personal opinions on every storyline. And at the bottom, you'll find the cast lists and (incomplete) chronologies to boot. But really, this is an attempt to review everything. Eventually.

uncanny x-men

I'm starting with Uncanny X-Men because, well, it's the series all the others came from. What's steadily growing here is reviews of everything after Chris Claremont left in 1991. Why start there? Well, it's a convenient break point; and it's more or less where the last official index series left off.

Note that the continuity information in this is pretty incomplete for the moment, at least as far the X-Men's guest appearances in other titles are concerned. If you want top quality chronologising, take a look at the Marvel Chronology Project.

This is a mammoth task, obviously, and it'll grow slowly. But for the moment, you can find out about these issues:-
