The other ongoing title this week is
Gambit, another of the stragglers.
By the way, before somebody e-mails me
about this, yes, I know the splash page says this storyline is
called "Hath No Fury." But the storyline was solicited
as "Voodoo Economics", and that's what it's called on the
recap page, so I'll go with that. After all, it's still
a story full of raving zombies and guest starring Brother
Voodoo. It's not like Marvel are likely to have changed
the title to avoid offending the Voodoo American community.
It's not often in this day and age that you
get to use the words "Guest starring Brother Voodoo." In
fact, he's a perfectly sensible choice of guest star because
he's the only other established superhero operating out of New
Orleans. But most people seem to steer well clear of
him, perhaps because he's acquired a reputation as the poster
child for lame Marvel superheroes.
But if you're one of the beleaguered band
of Brother Voodoo fans who've been yearning to see the poor
guy taken seriously, you'll be pleasantly surprised with this
issue. Okay, they're fighting a horde of zombies, so
it's kind of up his street. Still, he's being written as
a proper superhero here. It's the zombies who are funny;
since they're not alive, Gambit gets to charge them up and
make them go boom.
Entertainingly silly - there's something
endearingly low-budget about zombies, after all.
