Part 2 of 8: EXCALIBUR #5

Excalibur begins its second arc, "Food Fight", although nothing to do with food is in evidence.  I can't say that this issue does anything to increase my interest in the book.

Claremont has developed an annoying habit over the last few years where he sets up a vaguely interesting premise for a series and then immediately wanders off to look at something completely different instead of following it through.  The premise of this series is meant to be Xavier and Magneto rebuilding Genosha.  And there's a bit of chatter about how that's awfully important, and somebody should get around to it - but nobody really seems to be doing anything.

Instead, it's business as usual, as a villain attacks and the heroes react.  And he's a pirate-themed villain, from the look of him.  Blech.

Technically, this is better than the first arc.  The pacing's better, and at least the threat is more coherently established.  But it's dull as ditchwater, and I still don't care about any of these characters.
